Topic: Uploading on Linux? You can, but it's dirty

wrote Posted 1 year, 1 month ago
I wrote a little guide on the Italian Zooomr users blog (Don't worry it's in English!)
http://zuuumeristi.wordpress.com/2007/09/23/uploading-to-zooomr-from-linux-you-can-with-a-trick/

I hope this could help.
Please: let me know any comment or problem you have (about linux & zooomr, not about your life, wife, knife, and so on...)

That's exactly what I posted months ago to the other thread.

Good to see it spread.

That was three months ago, not to say the author [EDIT: apologies, I now see you are the author] saw my post, but they definitely came to the same conclusion.

Since the blog you posted is more detailed than me, I'll link there from my post.

Great. Unfortunately I didn't read your post: I would not have wasted my time using Windows.

Definitely not acceptable! Why should we bother to install a WINDOZE software to upload? it's just made another windows only desktop software~ it's not even a web application should like.

well, i believe Kristopher is improving this, i just hope he can solve it in a high priority, i think it's critical~

uh... sorry for my strong words in my last post, i just felt really inconvenient to upload my photos.
Anyway, thank you for your work around, michelinux.

It's cool, but there's a better temporary solution: a fallback to the old uploader. I can understand it to be convenient and all now that the servers are running out of storage space to not have everyone being able to upload but with the old uploader we wouldn't be able to bulk upload anyway. This is just annoying.

That's a shame. I was hoping to save you some time.

I'd much rather see Zooomr work 100%, firefox loads so much slower in Wine.

Disappointing that zooomr uses linux on the server and won't support us. Using a Linux server to extend the Microsoft monopoly is a slap in the face.

The old uploading method worked, I don't see why zooomr doesn't just send Linux browsers to the old upload form.

Never mind.

Upload works from Konqueror (with flash plugin installed) with no problems. It doesn't utilize flash uploader though. Which is a good thing.

I think Flash upload in general sucks. I don't think that getting a 3rd party app in the middle for uploading files is necessary. It has more cons than pros IMO.

Hey, Kristopher why don't u add a link on the upload page for the old plain working since Netscape 1.0 html upload form ?

You can do it yourself today. That's probably a faster solution.
Until Kristopher fixes it... do what you can to make the solution come faster.
