Letter from the Lead Developer

Hi there! My name is Kristopher Tate and I’m the lead developer of Zooomr. I started Zooomr because I feel that photos are more than data on a computer, film in a camera, or paper placed into a frame — Photos echo emotions, feelings, and memories that ultimately tell stories about people. I have been a photographer for over 4 years, and a programer since I was five. I suppose that I am lucky enough to be able to combine these two pastimes of mine into a solution that is as much about photos as it is about the people who take and view them.

Zooomr doesn’t necessarily seek to become the de-facto photo sharing solution as much as it seeks to become the de-facto photo sharing community. With Zooomr, people can not only organize and reflect upon their own photos, but also find other people through photos that interest them, or people who are located within their area. This is important because Zooomr opens the door to a world where photos are not just pixels on a monitor, stored somewhere on the Internet, but the remembrance of a walk to the park, Grandpa’s 83rd birthday, or that certain someone who you love.

I personally think that Zooomr will change the way we think of photos and even talk about them. My life has changed thanks to a few works of photography and I want to give that chance to other people, as well. It will be fun and enlightening to see what the world can come up with.
